KIMBERLEY – PRE NATAL

Being pregnant first time is a serial experience but going through it in lockdown makes it even more weird. The main reason I joined the bump classes was to have a support network of other preggo women who are all going through the same experience.

 

The way Rachel adapted the classes when the pandemic broke out was brilliant and such good value for money; getting 2 x 45min fitness and 1x 30min breathing online classes per week – these really helped both my fitness and mental health, making me feel calmer when things were a bit stressful.

 

Also, I’ve loved being part of a WhatsApp group with other soon-to-be mamas who could share tips and experiences that really helped me through my pregnancy. Everyone is really lovely and although you can’t see people in person, the classes are done over zoom where you can see everyone online and have a gab. At first, I didn’t think I’d like zoom classes and thought it would be awkward… but now I LOVE them (and would actually prefer it) as they save time travelling to the gym but as Rachel can see you on screen, you’re still getting coached and corrected on technique. For me, it motivates me more when I’m being watched and makes me try harder.

Wendy - Inside Out

“It felt reassuring knowing that every exercise is safe for your body after giving birth but I still had the ache you want after a workout.”

I was really nervous about exercising again after having my two boys. I felt sluggish and restless and knew I had to start somewhere. I did a lot of research into online training to fit around a lifestyle that doesn’t have much ‘me’ time right now and finally found Belly by Rachael’s Inside Out programme. I’d had a friend do their prenatal programme and she gave the best feedback so I thought why not, lets just give it a go!

 

It honestly was the best decision, there’s so much choice from yoga and Pilates to strength, step and barre workouts! It felt reassuring knowing that every exercise is safe for your body after giving birth but I still had the ache you want after a workout. My favourite part of the inside out plan was the technique sessions, they show you how to do every exercise properly. Turns out I’d been doing squats wrong for years!

 

By the end of the 4 weeks I was really excited about moving onto the next stage post natal programme. I’d read the belly girls group chat about how much they were enjoying the other sessions and was jealous I wasn’t taking part – such a big mindset change since before I started 4 weeks earlier!
